AskEditor plugin for Claude: install guide This page is written for the assistant a person asked to install the plugin. Do the steps in order, run each command yourself, and tell the person in a sentence what happened. What it installs: the AskEditor plugin. It connects the person's AskEditor account and opens their video editor in the app's own browser pane beside the chat, so they watch every edit. The thinking runs on their own plan; AskEditor credits are used only for paid work, and anything that costs more than a little asks them first. Never ask the person for an API key, a password or a code, and never paste one into a command. 0. Check where you are. The editor opens beside the chat in the Code tab of the Claude desktop app. In a terminal the plugin still works, and the person is given a link to the editor instead. In the plain Chat tab or on the web it cannot be installed this way: say so and stop. 1. Install the plugin (one command adds AskEditor's plugin source and installs from it): claude plugin install askeditor --marketplace https://askeditor.com/plugin/marketplace.json On a Claude Code older than 2.1.292, use these two instead: claude plugin marketplace add https://askeditor.com/plugin/marketplace.json claude plugin install askeditor@askeditor Older than 2.1.224 cannot install it at all (see `claude --version`): ask the person to update Claude first. 2. If the person added AskEditor by key before, an older connection named `askeditor` is in the way: Claude keeps it and skips the plugin's. Check with `claude mcp get askeditor`, and if it shows a connection with a key, ask the person before removing it with `claude mcp remove askeditor`. Never remove one whose name begins `plugin:`. 3. Check it: claude plugin list (askeditor@askeditor is enabled) 4. The plugin loads when a session starts, not in this one. Ask the person to start a new session, type /mcp, choose askeditor and press Authenticate. Their browser opens an AskEditor page: they check that it names their own account, then press Allow. Then ask the person to start a new chat and say: Open my latest AskEditor project beside this chat. If a step fails, say which one and what it printed. Do not try another way to connect.
